MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Families of The Robert C. Dodson School,

On behalf of the staff and students of the Robert C. Dodson School, we would like to welcome you back for the 2008-2009 school year. Our goal is to enhance the instructional program and to cater to the needs of the whole child through our A.I.R. (Achievement + Involvement = Results) vision for success, as we want each child to reach his/her potential. Parent involvement and support will be paramount to our success.

Our motto is "the business of school is learning". All students are expected to work to embrace this philosophy and display it in their actions and in their behaviors. We will continue to improve our ELA and Math scores set forth by New York State. Students in grades 3 through 8 must meet rigorous guidelines as set forth by the "No Child Left Behind" federal initiative (NCLB). Through NCLB, schools are required to have all students reading on grade level by the year 2014. Please help us to assist your child by making sure that they are in school daily and ON TIME (8:35 AM). Ask them about their homework and check their book bags each day.

Please become active with the school PTA and always stay in touch with their classroom teachers. Should you find that you may need more assistance with a situation that you have been able to get with the classroom teacher, please call the school. We maintain and open door policy, which means that if you need speak to myself or our administration team, we can certainly sit down and chat!

Best wishes for a wonderful school year here at Dodson. As always, your continual support and commitment to a quality education is highly applauded and greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Dr. Jennifer Schulman, Principal
